Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “Firstlife” book #1 in the “Everlife” series by Gena Showalter. I picked up this book when it was on sale in the Nook store on my tablet because it seemed interesting and it was on sale for $2.99. My personal review of the book is as follows:

I really liked/related to the main character at first because I’m so hard headed/stubborn myself however after a certain amount of her going through a lot of torture I was almost yelling at the book for her to pick a side already, she even acknowledges the fact that doing so would be easier for her but she’s too stubborn to do it which I understood however it still got on my nerves especially since in my personal opinion it’s pretty much acknowledged that picking a side is pretty much inevitable.

I feel like the action and pacing of the storyline picked up around page 100 (in my ebook copy). Around the early middle half of the book is when I started to notice little weird quirks that the main character had that(In my personal opinion) didn’t seem to make sense to me and they felt like they wouldn’t match with someone who grew up in a world like the one that the story is set in also within her backstory, I can’t really explain why without giving away plot points that might be big spoilers.

Just a friendly FYI to the main character if you are sick of a word you could always just stop saying it.

A couple of the scenes that happen around the start of the middle of the book(give or take a few pages) in my personal opinion make the overall arc of the main storyline more confusing, they don’t feel like plot twist to me personally more like things that happen to make you think that the main character will finally make a choice between the realms but it turns into more of “I’m not gonna choose”/”tell me more about what you’re offering” which kind of annoyed me.

The love triangle stuff/(in my personal opinion) almost constantly defending one guy to the other really bugged me. Some of the plot points that happen towards the end of the middle of the book had me on an emotional rollercoaster that by the end left me feeling let down.

The first half of the end of the book confused me; the ending of the book let me down and surprised me at the same time. I seriously doubt that I will read the next book in the series because I found the main character’s pattern of choices/behaviors to be predictable. Overall I personally rate this book a 3 and half out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊.

Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get considered by Netgally and other places for future books ♡.
