Dear reader I just finished reading “Glitter” book number one in the “Glitter” doulogy by Aprilynne Pike. I picked up a hardcover copy of the book from http://Bookoutlet.com because it seemed interesting. My personal review of the book is as follows:

This book isn’t a typical historical fantasy, there’s a part on page 228(in my hardcover copy) where the main character talks about how she and the others live in the palace/what they do there as “living art” which I personally feel at least partially explains a lot of the mechanics of how the historical part of the storyline works, think of it as living historical fantasy performance art with some futuristic technology mixed in which really pulled me into the storyline.

There is a lot corporate drama(the “king” is the CEO of the company which is kind of how the “court” works with how high up in the company/how many shares you have makes you a duke etc).

The only real let down for me personally was the love story angle of the book I just didn’t get it(especially how the main character “falls in lust” with a guy who for majority of book she doesn’t really talk to). We get to see more of his background however it still doesn’t make sense to me personally why they like each other so much(maybe “love at first sight”) I do know that they go through a lot together.

The last half of the book as well as the ending had me feeling so sad for the main character even though I saw from a storyline prospective that it kind of had to happen for there to be able to be a second book (It’s a doulogy) however I have no idea how the main character will be able to get herself and her crush out alive.

Overall I personally rate this book a 6 out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊. Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by Netgally and other places for future books ♡.
