Dear reader I couldn’t sleep so I finished reading “Rise of Fire” book number 2 in the “Reign of Shadows” series by Sophie Jordan. I picked up this book from the Nook store on my tablet because I had to know what happens next to “Luna” and “Fowler”, my personal review of the book is as follows: SPOILERS AHEAD If YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY FINISHED READING IT/THE FIRST BOOK IN THE SERIES YET.

I loved the first book in the series a lot however the addition of a love triangle “boy drama” (Side note, how fast can a guy possibly fall in love with someone?/does every guy “Luna’s” age who meets her fall in love with her?)/how “Luna” (in my personal opinion) goes back and forth between how she feels about them really annoyed me.

A “Winner takes all fight” over “Luna” actually happens (and yes the characters call it “winner takes all”), did I mention that it’s “To the death” too?(also “Luna” thinks that the fight was “unavoidable” WTF) don’t get me wrong, I love a good love storyline but that was just way too typical in my personal opinion; Of course the fight gets broken up by monsters… (Also “Luna’s” super hearing going “soft” after 2 weeks in the castle..)

And of course the king has to want to marry “Luna” as well(after telling his son “Chasen” that he was supposed to marry her) because he was in love with her mother way back when… but she gets saved from that problem by the two guys working together to help save her because of course they both love her so much…and of course one guy helps her go to/be with the other guy..

“Luna” becomes “Queen of the monsters” and saves the day…I personally wish that this could have just been a stand alone. Overall I personally rate this book 2 and a half out of 10. Happy reading dear reader 😊.  Please like and share this review if you like it doing so helps me to get approved by Netgally and other places for future books ♡.
